National Organization of Peer Educators is an NGO in Kenya established in 2000 and received international mandate in 2007. NOPE works to improve the well-being of youth, people in the workplace, and the country's most at-risk populations by providing highly customized sexual reproductive health and social services using innovative peer centered and community-driven behavioral interventions that foster innovation.
For over 20 years, NOPE has built its portfolio in capacity building to both workplace and civil society organizations in more than 5 provinces of Kenya. It has maintained a good record and partner relations with remarkable program implementation record spanning a whole decade.

WHAT WE DO
Strengthening service delivery is crucial to the achievement of the health-related sustainable development goals (SDG 3), which include the delivery of interventions to reduce child mortality, maternal mortality and the burden of HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. Through MOH partnership and collaboration with stakeholders, we invest in facilitating access to equitable high-quality services for HIV/TB/Malaria prevention treatment, care and support, reproductive and primary health care, mental health and GBV prevention services.

The organization employs community led initiatives where its works closely with key and vulnerable populations to identify their unique needs and priorities by involving community members in the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs.
Strengthening policy and systems is critical to the supply of delivery of quality, affordable primary health care and to the achievement of universal health coverage. Our focus is to contribute to global and national policy advocacy and increase access to integrated responsive high-quality services to communities. NOPE invests in policy and advocacy at National and County levels for sustainable improvement in the performance of health, social and community systems through.
Institutions are embedded in a country’s social context, which affects the way they function as well as their effect on economic and health outcomes. Institutions are as good as the capacity of the state that upholds them. NOPE’s focus on institutional capacity strengthening is both o technical and organizational systems. Our investments involve work on organizational principles, minimum standards, best practices, business processes and tools deemed important for effective, efficient, and sustainable organizations.

NOPE Kenya forms strategic alliances with groups that share its beliefs and objectives, both locally and internationally. Through the sharing of resources and expertise, these collaborations make it possible to conduct more extensive and efficient initiatives.
NOPE Kenya collaborates closely with governmental organizations including the Ministry of Health, chief offices, sub counties, and policymakers to promote policies that are responsive in allocating resources for community empowerment and well-being of projects. The group works with the government to try to modify policy in a way that benefits society as a whole.
NOPE Kenya works together with civil society groups like churches to champion for equity and fairness in society. These partnerships frequently entail coordinated initiatives to optimize impact and combined efforts to promote best practices.
NOPE Kenya works together with organizations for young people like Mazingira Ambassadors of Change (MAoC). NOPE harnesses the enthusiasm and ingenuity of the young advocates by including them in its programs and advocacy work hence building a more powerful and long-lasting empowerment movement.
NOPE Kenya molds alliances with grassroots organizations and community-based groups. With this strategy, the organization makes sure that its efforts are suited to the unique requirements and cultural milieux of the communities it serves.
NOPE Kenya works with academic and research institutions to carry out research on community-based problems that is data-driven. These collaborations aid in the creation of evidence-based insights that guide the organization's program development and advocacy initiatives.

Latest events and causes
On Monday 5th June 2023, The NOPE NPI expand Mazingira's Ambassadors of Change in partnership with Soroptimist International Nairobi Central (SINC)participated in a cleanup exercise at Olululunga, Narok town, in Honor of the world environment day to beat plastic pollution. The duo rallied with a team of dedicated volunteers to create awareness and educate the community about the importance of environmental conservation.
During the outreach, the youth ambassadors employed the use of magnet theatre to draw the attention of passersby as they marched the streets with colorful banners, chanted slogans, handed out pamphlets and engaged in conversations, to spread the environmental message widely.
One of their missions is to keep their environment clean and promote sustainable practices by exploring new ways to create a sustainable future for their village. The tree-planting and clean up exercise was to tale of the importance of ecological care, waste disposal control and sustainable practices for a thriving environment.
Learn MoreOn Monday May 29th & June 2nd 2023, NOPE NPI expand project & Soroptimist International Nairobi Central (SINC) came together to make a difference in the lives of young girls by launching a groundbreaking collaboration to provide menstrual kits to school children on World Hygiene Day.
The organized Menstrual Hygiene Day at the schools Masikonde & Olashapani increased awareness of Menstrual hygiene (MH), condemned the stigmatization of girls having periods, called for more period products, and encouraged girls to stay in school. The partnership successfully distributed 1000 pieces of sanitary towels to the girls of various schools present, and 840 boxers for the boys. The schools present were Namely, Olshapaani, Eor Ewuaso, Ololulunga, Olgilai Ololunga, Masantare, Oloirien and Oloisiyioi primary schools. Each kit contained two reusable sanitary pads, an inner wear, and an educational calendar to help track their monthly periods. This was in hopes of helping them feel seen, understood, and supported in their passage towards womanhood.

The Subcounty AIDS STI Control Officer (SCASCO) and the subcounty Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) have been joining hands to conduct a series of empowering capacity-building sessions for young women, known as the DREAMS ambassadors. The sessions cover range of topics, including sexual and reproductive health, HIV prevention, life skills, and entrepreneurship where mentors share their expertise in AIDS and STI control to enlighten the girls on safe practices and dispelling common myths surrounding these issues. The sexual reproductive health topics emphasizes the significance of education, family planning, and gender equality.
